Indian Air Force AFCAT 02/2025 Recruitment Notification Out – Apply Now for Flying and Ground Duty Branches

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced the AFCAT 02/2025 notification, inviting unmarried Indian male and female candidates to apply for Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Flying Branch. Ground Duty branches offer roles in both Technical and Non-Technical fields. This recruitment drive is for courses scheduled to begin in July 2026.

  • Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) [AE(L)]: 85 vacancies are available for men and 23 for women.
  • Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) [AE(M)]: Men – 38 | Women – 10

  • Weapon Systems (WS): Men – 19 | Women – 5
  • Administration: Men – 46 | Women – 12

NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch)

  • 10% of the overall vacancies are set aside for NCC candidates in both Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission categories.

Pay and Benefits

  • Flying Officers will get a monthly salary between ₹56,100 and ₹1,77,500 under the Level 10 pay scale.
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500 per month
  • Additional allowances and benefits include: uniform allowance, transport, medical cover, subsidized housing, and more.

Type of Commission

  • Flying Branch (SSC): Engagement of 14 years.
  • Ground Duty Branches (SSC): Initial tenure of 10 years, extendable by up to 4 more years based on merit and service needs.
  • Permanent Commission: May be granted later, subject to eligibility and vacancy.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Applicants must be Indian citizens as per the rules of the Indian Citizenship Act.

Age Limit (As on 1st July 2026)

  • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years (Born between 2nd July 2002 and 1st July 2006)
    (Relaxable up to 26 years for candidates with a valid Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA)
  • Ground Duty Branches: 20 to 26 years (Born between 2nd July 2000 and 1st July 2006)

Marital Status: Only unmarried candidates are eligible. Candidates are not permitted to marry while undergoing training.

Educational Qualifications

Flying Branch

  • 10+2 with 50% marks in Physics and Mathematics.
  • Graduation (any stream) with 60% marks OR
  • BE/B.Tech (4-year degree) with 60% marks OR
  • Cleared Section A & B of AMIE/Aeronautical Society of India with 60%.

Ground Duty (Technical)

  • 10+2 with 50% in Physics and Math.
  • A four-year degree in engineering/technology or equivalent (with 60% marks) in approved disciplines (e.g., Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, etc.)

Ground Duty (Non-Technical)

  • Weapon Systems (WS): Same as Flying Branch eligibility.
  • Admin/Logistics: Graduation with 60% OR AMIE/Aeronautical Society with 60%.
  • Accounts: Graduation in Commerce or related finance fields with 60%.
  • Education: Post-graduation with 50% and graduation with 60%.
  • Meteorology: B.Sc (with Physics & Maths) or B.Tech in approved disciplines with 60%.

Selection Process

  1. AFCAT Written Exam (only for AFCAT entry)
  2. AFSB Interview (for shortlisted candidates)
  3. Medical Examination
  4. Final Merit List

Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) interviews at designated centers.
