Detailed Position Overview

1. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a government-recognized institution.
  • Preferred: Higher qualifications in law, finance, or related fields would be advantageous.

Professional Experience

  • The candidate should be a retired or currently serving officer at the level of General Manager or equivalent in any bank or financial regulatory authority.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in banking, financial regulation, supervision, payment systems, or consumer protection.
  • Exclusion: Candidates currently serving or previously employed with Bank of Maharashtra are not eligible.

Age Limit

  • Applicants must not be older than 67 years as of 31st March 2025.

3. Job Responsibilities

The Internal Ombudsman will play a pivotal role in resolving customer grievances and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. Key duties include:

  • Reviewing complaints rejected by the bank’s internal grievance mechanism.
  • Reviewing complaint trends by product and region to recommend policy improvements
  • Examining records and seeking additional information from complainants when necessary.
  • Providing quarterly reports on complaint trends to senior management.
  • Ensuring fair resolution without representing the bank in legal disputes.

Exclusions: The role does not handle fraud cases, HR matters, or complaints already in court.
