DRDO DEBEL Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) Recruitment 2025
The Defence Bioengineering and Electromedical Laboratory (DEBEL), Bengaluru, functioning under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has invited applications from bright and meritorious Indian nationals for Junior Research Fellowship Opportunities for Junior Research Fellows (JRF) are offered in the areas of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering. This opportunity offers young graduates and postgraduates a chance to contribute to defence-related research and gain valuable experience in a premier defence R&D institution.
Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria can apply via email before the closing date. Selection will be made through a screening process followed by an interview.

Application Fees
- No Application Fee is required to apply for the JRF positions at DEBEL.
Age Limit
- Upper Age Limit: 28 years as of the last date of application (06.07.2025)
- Relaxations:
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- Age relaxation will be provided according to the Government of India guidelines.

Salary / Fellowship Amount
- As per DRDO norms:
- Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) will receive a monthly stipend of around ₹37,000, along with House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per the applicable rules.
- Fellowship tenure can be extended/upgraded:
- Initial tenure: 2 years
- The position may be upgraded to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the third year, based on performance and eligibility.
- SRF may be extended for a 4th year, based on performance
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
JRF-03 – Mechanical Engineering:
- BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with First Division and valid GATE score
OR - ME/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with First Division at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
JRF-04 – Biomedical Engineering:
- BE/B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering with First Division and valid GATE/NET qualification
OR - ME/M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering with First Division at both UG & PG levels
Additional Conditions
- All degrees must be from UGC/AICTE recognized institutions.
- CGPA/CPI must be converted into percentage with a valid conversion certificate from the university.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior work or research experience in relevant areas.
Selection Process
- A designated committee will review and shortlist the applications.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview (in-person).
- A written test (screening) may be conducted before the interview depending on the number of applications.
- Interview may be held over multiple days, and candidates should be prepared accordingly.

- 10th Certificate / Birth Certificate (for DOB proof)
- Educational certificates and mark sheets (UG and PG)
- Valid GATE/NET scorecard (if applicable)
- Caste certificate (if applicable)
- CGPA to percentage conversion document (if applicable)
General Instructions
- Candidates working in government/PSU/autonomous bodies must apply through proper channel and provide No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of interview.
- Candidates should carry a valid government-issued ID proof, such as Aadhaar, Passport, or Driving License, at the time of the interview.
- Electronic gadgets such as mobiles, laptops, pen drives, CDs, etc., are not allowed on the premises.
- Entry is allowed only through ADE Raman Gate. Latecomers will not be allowed.
- Candidates must carry two recent passport-size photographs and all original certificates for verification.
- Receiving the fellowship does not ensure a job or future placement in DRDO.
- Selected candidates may register for a Ph.D. You may enroll in a degree program during the fellowship period, as per the applicable rules.
