India Optel Limited (IOL), a leading PSU under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has invited applications for Project Technician positions on a fixed-term contractual basis. The recruitment is for its unit, Ordnance Factory, Dehradun (OLF), a well-established manufacturing facility engaged in producing optical, optoelectronic sights, systems, and cables primarily for India’s military and paramilitary forces. - Former Trade Apprentices of Ordnance Factories: Relaxation equivalent to apprenticeship period
Vacancy Details
IOL invites applications from candidates holding National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) or National Trade Certificate (NTC) in relevant trades. The recruitment is strictly temporary and contractual.

Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed 10th standard and completed a full-time NAC/NTC course from ITI under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961.
- Higher qualifications than those prescribed will not be considered.
Trade-wise Acceptable Qualifications:
- Fitter Instruments: Instrument Mechanic / Advanced Mechanic (Instruments)
- Fitter Electronics: Electronics Mechanic / Mechanic Mechatronics / Mechanic Industrial Electronics / Embedded Systems / Power Electronics
- Optical Worker: Optical Worker Trade
Experience Requirement
- No prior experience is required. Fresh NAC/NTC holders are encouraged to apply.
Remuneration
- Basic Pay: Rs. 20,000/- per month
- Allowances: Industrial DA + HRA as applicable
- Annual Increment: 3% of basic pay, subject to satisfactory performance
Tenure of Engagement
- Initial appointment is for 1 year.
- Extension possible up to 3 additional years based on performance and organizational requirement (Maximum total: 4 years).
Selection Process
- Shortlisting:
- Based on percentage of marks in NTC/NAC (only NTC will be considered if both are available).
- 1.25 times the number of vacancies will be called for the Trade Test.
- Trade Test:
- Qualifying in nature, with scores not considered in the final merit list.
- Failure to qualify will result in disqualification.
Tie-breaking Criteria (in order):
- Preference to Ex-Trade Apprentices of Ordnance Factories
- Older age
- Alphabetical order of names

- No travel allowance or requests for change in test date or venue will be considered.
Terms and Conditions of Engagement
- Engagement is purely temporary and does not confer any right for future regular employment.
- No benefits such as promotion, loans, LTC, medical reimbursement, or gratuity shall be admissible.
- Employees will be entitled to leave at the rate of 1.5 days for each completed month of service, totaling 18 days annually.
- Female candidates will be eligible for Maternity Benefits as per the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.
- Candidates may be terminated for misconduct, misrepresentation, or unauthorized absence exceeding three days.
- Contractual employees may be allotted company quarters (subject to availability). If availed, HRA will not be provided.
