RBI Kanpur Invites Applications for Bank’s Medical Consultant (BMC)
RBI Kanpur has invited applications for two contractual posts of Bank’s Medical Consultant (BMC) to provide services at its staff quarters in Kidwai Nagar and officers’ quarters in Tilak Nagar. The engagement offers a fixed hourly remuneration and is a unique opportunity for practicing medical professionals in the Kanpur area to serve RBI personnel directly.

- Applications must be submitted in sealed cover, titled “Application for Engagement of Bank’s Medical Consultant on Contractual Basis,” and delivered by hand or post to the Regional Director, RBI, Kanpur.
Eligibility Criteria
- Medical Qualification
- Must hold an MBBS degree in the Allopathic system from a university approved by the Medical Council of India.
- Postgraduate degree in General Medicine is preferred (though not mandatory).
- Clinical Experience
- Minimum of two years’ practice as a medical practitioner in a hospital or private clinic.
- Local Presence
- Must maintain a private clinic, dispensary, or residence within 10–15 km of RBI’s dispensaries at Kidwai Nagar or Tilak Nagar.
Remuneration & Service Terms
- Contract Duration: 3 years (non-renewable); a fresh empanelment will follow at the end of each contract term.
- Hourly Remuneration: ₹1,000/hour for actual clinic hours, fully inclusive of all charges.
- For Staff Quarters: Monday–Saturday morning clinic.
- For Officers’ Quarters: Evening clinic weekdays and Saturday midday slot.
- Monthly ₹1,000 is earmarked for conveyance expenses; the rest constitutes professional fees.
The Bank reserves the right to adjust hourly rates, clinic timings, and dispensary assignments as operationally required.
Scope of Duties
- Attend to RBI staff, family members, retired employees, and their dependents during scheduled clinic hours free of charge.
- Offer consultations from their private clinic for urgent cases involving RBI members—charges capped according to the Bank’s schedule.
- Provide home visits and emergency support, including referrals and accompaniment to hospitals for serious health events.
- Administer medications, injections, dress wounds, conduct minor surgical procedures, and supervise clinic pharmacists.
- Issue medical certificates and verify external medical certificates.
- Perform medical fitness certifications for staff as needed.
- Maintain records of clinic activities and coordinate with RBI as required.
All services must be delivered professionally, and the BMC must indemnify RBI against liability arising from professional duties.
Contractual Terms & Conditions
The contractual arrangement requires compliance with detailed terms outlined in RBI’s annexures:
- Consultation Timing & Locations – Maintain regular presence at designated dispensaries and handle emergent care during off-hours if necessary.
- Professional Duty Requirements – The BMC must serve as a general practitioner and ensure continued validity and suitability of qualifications.
- Pharmaceutical Oversight – Oversee medication administration and train dispensary staff on injection procedures.
- Home Care/Rounds – On-demand visits to staff homes and certificate issuance for health and service-related purposes.
- Minor Procedures – Perform small surgeries and important dressings personally; delegate simple wound care where appropriate.
- Emergency Services – Manage onsite emergencies, including patient transfers and hospital liaison.
- Certification Tasks – Authorize medical leave, countersign external certificates, and provide fitness clearances to RBI employees.
Code of Conduct & Professional Ethics
The BMC must adhere to the following ethical standards:
- Maintain confidentiality of Bank and personal medical data.
- Display professional courtesy and integrity always.
- Avoid involvement in political activities, public protests, or trade union engagements.
- Observe RBI’s information security protocols.
- Avoid disclosing Bank-related information through publications or media.
- Neither solicit nor accept gifts from employees or dependents.
- Ensure regular attendance; any absence requires prior approval and temporary medical coverage.
- Abstain from subcontracting or outsourcing services.
- Comply fully with anti-alcohol and drug policies while on duty or in public.
- Avoid any form of sexual harassment.
Violation of any ethical requirement would constitute a breach of contract and may lead to termination.
Selection Process
- Interview
- RBI reserves the right to set higher standards or screening thresholds.
- Listing in the shortlist does not guarantee an interview—only those deemed suitable will be contacted.
- Medical Examination & Document Verification
- Shortlisted candidates must undergo medical and document scrutiny at their own expense.
- Originals of MBBS/PG certificates, valid MCI registration, experience proofs, and local address documentation need to be submitted.
- Contract Agreement
- Final selection requires signing the RBI contract and agreeing to its terms (Annex I) and code of conduct (Annex II) before commencing duties.
