SAI NCSSR Recruitment 2025: Walk-in Interviews for Consultant Positions in Biostatistics, Yoga, and Research Coordination

The Sports Authority of India (SAI), through its prestigious National Center for Sports Science and Research (NCSSR), has released a notification inviting eligible candidates for walk-in interviews to fill up contractual Consultant positions. The recruitment aims to engage qualified professionals for a short-term tenure of one year in vital disciplines contributing to India’s evolving sports science ecosystem.

SAI, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, has been instrumental in nurturing and training elite sportspersons for international excellence. With state-of-the-art facilities and specialized staff, SAI now seeks to strengthen its scientific research base by bringing in experts in biostatistics, yoga therapy, and research coordination.

Application Fee

• No application fee is required to appear for the walk-in interview.

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 45 years as of the date of interview
• Candidates will receive age relaxation corresponding to the length of their earlier tenure with SAI.

Vacancy Details

• Total Posts: 3 (Consultant Biostatistics, Yoga Expert, Research Coordinator)
• Type of Engagement: Purely on contractual basis for 1 year
• Place of Posting: All India basis as per requirement. Transferability lies solely with SAI.

Salary and Emoluments

• Consolidated Monthly Remuneration: ₹80,000/- for all Consultant positions.
• Increment: Up to 7% annual increment based on performance and review.

Eligibility Criteria

Consultant – Biostatistics

• Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Statistics/Biostatistics/Health Statistics or equivalent
• Desirable: Ph.D. in related field, experience in sports/health domains, published research papers
• Experience: Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience

Consultant – Research Coordinator

• Essential Qualification: Master’s in Public Health/Sports Science/Biomedical Engineering/Community Medicine
• Preferred: A Ph.D. in the relevant discipline, research background in sports, and published academic work.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years post-qualification in research and policy

Consultant – Yoga Expert

• Required Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Yoga or a BNYS degree along with an MD in Yoga.
• Desirable: Ph.D. in Yoga-related topic, certification from YCB, clinical/research experience in sports
• Experience: Minimum 3 years post-qualification teaching/clinical work

Job Responsibilities

Consultant (Biostatistics)

• Develop statistical analysis plans and conduct data analysis
• Collaborate with sports scientists and researchers
• Generate reports and interpret findings
• Support training and development for junior staff
• Stay updated with new methodologies in biostatistics

Consultant (Research Coordinator)

• Conduct policy-level research on sports science ecosystem
• Draft proposals, MoUs, official documents
• Liaise with SAI’s scientific, ethical, and HR committees
• Support development of national-level sports science policies

Consultant (Yoga Expert)

• Design and recommend yoga modules for athletes
• Conduct sessions for injury prevention and mental wellness
• Coordinate yoga-related research and collaborate on grant proposals
• Contribute to national guidelines for yoga in sports

Selection Process

• Selection will be purely based on interview performance
• The final merit list will be determined exclusively by the scores obtained in the interview.
• Selection does not guarantee permanent appointment

Terms and Conditions

• Contract Duration: 1 year (extendable based on need and performance)
• Termination Condition: The contract may be ended by either side with a 30-day prior notice.
• Working Hours: Full-time engagement; odd hours and extended duties may be required
• Leave Entitlement: 30 days annually, calculated on a pro-rata basis.
• Maternity Leave: As per Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017
• Tax Deduction: TDS will be applicable as per norms
• TA/DA for Tour:
  • Air (Economy)/Rail (AC 2-tier) for travel
  • Hotel: ₹2250/day, Taxi: ₹338/day, Food: ₹900/day
