WBMSC Recruitment 2025: Apply for 19 Sub-Assistant Engineer (Electrical) Posts under Kolkata Municipal Corporation
WBMSC has officially announced the recruitment of Sub-Assistant Engineer (Electrical) roles under the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).A total of 19 vacancies are available. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications online from 18 June 2025 to 8 July 2025.
This recruitment is being conducted in reference to the approval received from the Government of West Bengal through the Urban Development & Municipal Affairs Department

Salary / Pay Scale
- Salary Structure: As per Level 12 of the Pay Matrix defined under ROPA 2019, applicable in West Bengal.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must possess a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the State Council for Engineering & Technical Education or an equivalent qualification.
- Applicants with higher qualifications in Electrical Engineering are also eligible to apply.
Age Limit (as on 1 January 2025)
- Upper Age Limit: 37 years
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST of West Bengal: 5 years
- OBC (A & B) of West Bengal: 3 years
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): Up to 45 years
- SC/ST/OBC candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved candidates.
Selection Process
The selection will be conducted in two stages:
- Written Examination
- Objective-type (MCQ) format with 100 questions
- Total Marks: 200 (2 marks per question)
- Duration: 1.5 hours
- Negative Marking: 1 mark for each wrong answer
- Medium of Question Paper: English
- Syllabus: Diploma-level Electrical Engineering as per AICTE norms
- Personality Test / Interview
- Total Marks: 40
- Candidates 3 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted based on written exam merit.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks:
- General: 45%
- OBC/EWS: 40%
- SC/ST/PwD: 35%
Other Key Information
- Document Upload: Applicants must upload scanned copies of age proof, educational qualification, caste certificate (if applicable), and PwD certificate (if applicable).
- Bond Requirement: Selected candidates will need to submit a bond on ₹50 non-judicial stamp paper stating they will arrange temporary shelter within KMC limits to perform emergency duties.
- Service Candidates: Government or semi-government employees must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) before the personality test.
- Scribe Facility: Available for eligible PwD candidates on request, as per rules.
